The Treatment Guide – Sculptra

The secret to long lasting, subtle facial rejuvenation.

When it comes to restoring facial volume, and achieving a youthful glow, Scuptra is a standout treatment. Unlike traditional dermal fillers that offer an immediate result Sculptra is a little more of a long game. It works gradually and subtly to help your skin build its own collagen.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an injectable bio – stimulator made from Poly – L – Lactic Acid (PLLA) – a bio compatible, biodegradable substance that has been used in medical applications for many years. Rather than simply filling lines, it stimulates the body’s own collagen production, effectively rebuilding the skins extra – cellular matrix.

Can affect all skin types and be triggered by:

  • Sun Exposure

  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) from acne, injury or skin treatments

  • Hormonal changes (though it is more specific to melasma)

What can it treat?

Scupltra is ideal if you’re noticing facial volume loss due to ageing or weight loss. It helps improve skin laxity and facial volume without adding weight.

What does the procedure involve?

A consultation first and foremost to ensure that you are suitable for treatment. The procedure itself is injected with a cannula in to the sub – dermis (skin) around the temple, mid face and lower face depending on the desired outcome of treatment. A course of treatment is needed. We recommend 3 x treatments, 6 – 8 weeks apart.

Does it hurt?

Mild discomfort or pinching is felt during the treatment. We numb the skin with topical anaesthetic before treatment, and local anaesthetic is added to the solution to maximise comfort.

What is the downtime?

Some mild redness and swelling is normal, along with a little tenderness. Bruising is rare but can happen as with any injectable treatment.

Aftercare – This is super important!

The aftercare is key with Sculptra treatment. You need to firmly massage the treatment area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days. This is to avoid the formation of lumps or nodules after treatment and if you don’t think you can do this, then it isn’t the treatment for you (and that’s ok – we have other options) You will be provided with an aftercare kit which includes a Gua Sha to aid facial massage. Avoid make up for 24 hours and avoid excessive heat like sauna, swim or intense exercise for 24 – 48 hours.

When will I see results?

Sculptra treatment is a marathon, not a sprint. Sculptra results are gradual over the course of treatments, and can take 4 – 6 months from the beginning of your treatment journey as the collagen rebuilds.

How long does it last?

Results are a long game to, with up to 2 years of glowing, refreshed improvement, making this a great long term investment with minimum maintenance.

What is the maintenance?

A booster treatment every 2 years is recommended to maintain results.

How much does it cost?

Initial course (3 treatments) - £1275

Booster Treatment - £450
